The Director of Facility Management’s primary duties include overseeing maintenance operations and procurement of contractors to complete various capital improvement projects for a portfolio of properties. The Director of Facilities Management interfaces closely with the Regional Managers in identifying, implementing, and completing short- and long-term capital improvement and preventative maintenance programs. This person’s authority includes monitoring maintenance and safety training programs. Additional responsibilities include preparing contracts for any third party work and implementing maintenance initiatives that improve effectiveness and profitability.

Leads the overall direction and improvement of the department. Recommends personnel, facilities, and funds required to carry out maintenance programs. Plans, directs, coordinates infrastructure maintenance functions and activities.

Provide management of the Project, Industrial and Packaging engineering functions. Thirteen direct reports at the peak. Manage Capital Budgeting process.• Key team member for conceptual design and design development of over $70M project to relocate production, packaging and administrative functions. Lead on Packaging which achieved $650,000 in annual operating savings.• Championed Process Improvement and Cost Savings Projects to achieve over $3M of annual savings over 5 years.• Implemented Standardized Performance Metrics for Milwaukee and Sheboygan Engineering. Allowed management team to better evaluate performance of each group as well as identify opportunities for improvement.• Developed and Implemented Project Management Best Practices. Enabled major North American sites to present a common face to internal customers and gain efficiencies of utilizing best practices.• Supported initiative to successfully gain ISO certification for the entire company through leadership in the implementation within the engineering department.• Consistently managed department expenses to come in under budget.• Team Lead to develop Standard Agreements for Architect/Engineering Services, Design Build, Prime and Sub-Contracts. Resulted in lower costs and less time to execute projects due to fewer legal reviews and less time for employees to become proficient with use of documents.• Implemented strategy for justification and development of Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering group. Increased ability to execute more process improvement projects.• Developed Packaging Engineering Function from one employee and local support to seven employees supporting global initiatives.

In addition to responsibilities of Project Engineer, functioned as a lead engineer and project manager on larger projects and performed training responsibilities for new employees.• Served as Project Manager and Lead Engineer for all facilities related project work executed for a Multi-phase $33M facility acquisition and relocation project.

Responsible for Project Management and Engineering for facilities and production related capital and maintenance projects. Duties included: cost estimating, multi-disciplined design and engineering, preparation of construction drawings and specifications, bidding, negotiating and issuing contracts, equipment and material purchasing, site supervision of outside contractors and maintenance personnel, budget management, development of preventative maintenance information, gather and catalog O&M information, and system / equipment startup.• Justified and implemented first digital control system.• Learned programming for digital control system and spread the knowledge to the maintenance group through one on one coaching and procurement of external training.• Successfully managed numerous capital projects which resulted in promotion to Senior Project Engineer.
