Seeking opportunities in: Application Development, Database Management, Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery, Data Center Operations, Problem Management, Technical Support, or Network Support.My career at Nationwide Insurance began in Computer Operations and progressed to z/OS Automation Programming including customized IPL scripts including the start-up of JES3, and scheduled starts of IMS, CICS, DB2, TSO, CA7, and CA1. As a NetBackup support technician, I worked with hardware and software vendors to replace an outdated solution with robotic tape libraries, and disk storage units, for hundreds of UNIX and Windows servers. From there I moved into Data Center Disaster Recovery. My role progressed from limited server based applications to developing integrated recovery tests of applications involving mainframe, mid-range, and server based applications. As the technical leader for the Data Center Infrastructure Recovery Team, I worked with business units and application architects to develop recovery objective based standard solutions for new and existing applications. I was also heavily involved in developing the DR requirements as we verified business and application recovery requirements and configuration management. Our ability to meet business recovery objectives improved greatly over the years I was involved in the development of an enterprise wide business continuity program. After my job was eliminated during the Great Recession, I spent a few years in the wilderness of operating a franchise business, followed by auto sales, both of which made it clear that the technical side IT is my forte, and where I intend to spend the rest of my career.
