About Larry Horner

larryjhorner@gmail.com214.726.2130The digital transformation of the Communication Service Provider industry, from Network Equipment Manufacturer to the operating company has been the work of my career. We continue to transform this original technology business at a global scale. With NFV, Containers and Cloud Native as buzz words of the day, the transformation is more about the end result than the how. (NFV is a ‘how’, for example). The end result is the separation into logical elements; the Compute, Networking and Storage, the middleware layers (the O.S, any virtualization layers and others), and finally the 'interesting work load' the application, and allowing for scale deployments. The network transformation toward 5G will pull this transformation and in my role at Intel we are deeply involved in this effort.Decorated vet and jumpmaster from the 82nd Airborne Division, advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, international management experience in operations with leading NEP’s in the telecom industry; leadership is a recurring theme. Responsibility in delivery, development and test for technical and management business units with budget and quality accountability; a history of building teams deploying solutions and enhancing products at global scale.Management Strength: Working with culturally diverse teams at multi-national sites and strong customer focus in product development, support, sustaining, pre-sales, and operations.Success Driven: Demonstrated continuous success at improving process, procedures and practices while focusing on meeting the technical requirements for each event or customer requirement. Consistently increased teams throughput and the quality of the end product. Technically Oriented: Possesses a strong technical hand with extensive experience at every technical layer of the product lifecycle. Strong background in carrier grade Access and Tandem VoIP deployments with Tier 1 carriers.Design, develop, validate and automate system and platform level test operations. Lead multi-national and geographical diverse test teams.

Listed skills include Telecommunications, Wireless, Testing, Voip, and 29 others.

I lead a design and implementation effort that satisfies this requirement, and may lead to a patent for the process. Another recent effort required the rapid development of a pre-subscription service. This customer has a very tight schedule and limited experience developing applications to meet the high availability requirements of the industry. I directly assisted this customer in designing, developing and integrating an application that required both circuit and transaction control to meet their product needs. A third example is the recent development for a South American cellular operator of a prepaid application that supports deployment using either circuit or transaction control as the protocol initiator. Developed applications in Java, C/C++ for real time high-availability telecom networks. Provided training and test support to API developers in addition to capacity profile metrics Show less
