Consulting Practice. Clients and projects include the following: • American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA – Class II and Class III carriers). Managed and executed a project to replace the manual ASLRRA tariff publishing process with custom constructed interactive and graphical software to create an efficient, less error prone, and cost effective tariff publishing process. • CJIS (Criminal Justice Information Systems) Implementations – The installation and implementation of these systems was unique for each county and therefore a different project for each. These systems included Emergency 911 dispatch procedures, Law Enforcement procedures, Jail processing and management, FBI regulations and reporting, and Law Enforcement Records. • Midsize hospital annual IT savings of 96K – Managed and executed this project the net result of which was eliminating the need to pay an external vendor to perform required maintenance. • Large hospital system upgrade – Project was at high risk of failure, staff morale was extremely low, the attrition rate of key members of the team was high, and the entire staff was asked to work very long hours (with no real end in sight). I was asked to determine how to get the upgrade project back on track and to make that assessment and plan very quickly (two to three days). • Production OS Migration – Managed the project the purpose of which was to convert all applications from Environ1 to CICS without changing any actual code. Project saved the client tens of thousands, maybe over a hundred thousand, man-hours of labor. • Providing technical training – Managed and executed projects for the development and delivery of various technical training classes. The deliverables were classes conducted for hundreds of IT development staff in dozens of corporations and several technical disciplines.

Reported directly to the owner and provided technical direction and project tasking for all development projects, application architecture and design, data modeling, database administration, and requirements and analysis consultation with customers. The applications were designed to service all of the Class I Railroads in the USA, Canada, and Mexico. There were six developers reporting to and taking direction from me.

Assumed the responsibility of third tier customer support to research severe problems sometimes including on-site visits.

Constructed Assembler Language interfaces for various system software to allow COBOL applications easy migration to and from each.
