The Sr. Director, Facilities Operations is responsible for the strategic planning and implementation of the company’s facilities operations in multiple sites. This includes planning, estimating and executing complex projects, overseeing day-to-day facilities maintenance, management of corporate Real estate and leasing strategy, and setting the strategic vision for the company’s corporate footprint. Oversees the company’s Health, Safety & Environment strategy including workers compensation and OSHA reporting.

In addition to overseeing the operations of the Facilities, EH&S, and security departments in support of 24x7 operations at Alere San Diego's 330,000 square foot medical device manufacturing plant, also is responsible for Facilities and EHS functions at all of Alere's North American operations sites.

San Diego Campus

Oversees and directs all operations of the Facilities, EH&S, and security departments in support of 24x7 operations at Alere San Diego's 330,000 square foot medical device manufacturing plant. Accountable for annual department budget of $15MM. Also resposible for the support of Alere's other west coast facilities. Manages Alere's west coast real estate including the sale of both developed and undeveloped propoerty, lease negotiation, and sub-lease negotiation. Expert in the reduction and control of Facilities costs while still maintaining a high level of customer service.

Manages the Facilities Dept. at Biosite. Responsible for directing the 7x24 day-to-day operations of the main Facilities group. Develop, execute and support all Strategic Facilities-related planning and projects for Biosite’s headquarters and manufacturing plant. Accountable for the overall performance of the 28 member Facilities Management and Engineering (FM&E) group consisting of Project Engineering, Maintenance and Janitorial, Space Planning, Drafting, and Documentation Compliance. Manage vendor and contractor relationships, define and track business\Facilities goals. Responsible for developing and managing capital and expense budgets for the FM&E portion of the $15.7 million Facilities budget. Coordinate with EH&S and Security.

Reporting directly to the CEO, responsible for directing the day-to-day activities of the maintenance, janitorial, and in-house mailroom staff; coordination of Facilities vendors and service providers; design and construction of labs and offices to accomodate corporate expansion; sourcing real estate for expansion in Austin, Texas. Received “1996 Innovative Employee Award”
