About Larry Wang

Changing the engine mid-flight is my specialty. No, I’m not a mechanic – but over the last few decades I’ve built a reputation for leading technology system migration and upgrade programs without business interruption. My career began in Silicon Valley where I grew up and watched it transform from a sleepy farm community to a vibrant tech hub. My first job out of college was capacity planning to scale the next generations of IBM-compatible mainframes/supercomputers; I was quickly swept up in the exhilaration of the tech industry. When I take on a project, I dive deep – whether it’s researching investments (my latest hobby) or creating comprehensive methodologies to achieve the goals of cost-focused tech company leaders. My curiosity fuels me to continue researching and paying attention to what’s coming next. I tap into the expertise of leaders, mentors, and program stakeholders to understand the past and piece together the puzzle of the future vision. My teams can count on me to set the strategy for the program, connect the dots for a clear plan, execute, and automate operations to increase efficiency and maximize ever-dwindling resources. I’ve piloted CEO-mandated projects throughout my career, often being tapped by leadership because of my reputation for curiosity, creativity, and relentless focus. My team and program successes have included:► Created a supplier managed inventory (SMI) system that reduced annual raw materials inventory $3M, enabling scaling of critical R&D center.► Streamlined legacy IT infrastructure baseline support, saving $500K annually in maintenance fees while reducing downtime.► Consolidated 200 computer rooms into 3 global data centers when a new CEO mandated system streamlining.► Implemented strategic business systems roadmap to enable $2B in revenue and increase on-time delivery from 65% to 95%+.► Built business continuity and risk management solutions that sped response to COVID-related supply chain challenges. The best aspects of these projects have been the people I’ve met along the way, the opportunity to be part of enabling growth for organizations, and the knowledge that my teams have set the foundation to scale beyond our imaginations. I’m actively taking on supply chain, capacity planning, and procurement consulting contracts. If you’re looking to bring this type of expertise to your team, reach out to me here or at larrywang88@gmail.com
