The last time I did StrengthsFinder, my #1 quality was Positivity. After some initial confusion, I get it now: I'm a real enthusiast, and a naturally curious person. I love planning and performing UX research with my co-researchers at Baymard Institute. I'm currently helming a study of Insurance websites, which I've found really compelling. And connecting to colleagues and users through interviews has been energizing even on low-energy days.As a teacher, I loved mentoring students as they became mature writers, and I still enjoy helping others with their writing. I still keep up with many students, and there's little I enjoy more than supporting them (and friends) through their job search processes. I love winning over groups, whether I'm presenting ideas in high-pressure workplace situations or delivering jokes about my life to unfamiliar crowds.I don't love it at first, but when I am confronted with someone who has strongly different feelings from me, I feel a bone-deep empathy, and I immediately inhabit their perspective. This radical flexibility has required me to work on my boundaries and assertiveness, but it has also led to friendships and collaborations that I never would have imagined.
