I am accountable for the oversight of clinical care and service delivery spanning three managed care organizations (MCOs) in New York and three Care Coordination Units (CCUs) in Illinois. An important part of my work is the analysis of clinical and quality data related to census/program growth, HEDIS measures, incidents and grievances, transitions of care, potentially avoidable hospitalization, falls, clinical audit performance, and more. Under my watch, all metrics have notably improved. I collaborate to produce the annual operating budget, inclusive of P&L monthly review and building census forecasts to achieve adequate staffing without overspending. My fiscal prudence also includes capturing substantial incentive payments from value-based purchasing/Level II arrangements with a large MCO. This revenue was earned by delivering improved patient care outcomes concurrent with reductions in spending. I build and maintain excellent relationships with key leadership at all MCOs, which contributes to cementing continued business and revenue generation. This includes the negotiation of service level agreements, conducting monthly and quarterly business reviews, and assisting in procuring contracts that expand care management to include Medicare and Medicare Advantage product lines. Championing staff education and training programs is another facet of my work and I have improved and streamlined new hire training for RNs and social work care managers. My people management skills include guiding the efforts of five direct reports, and through them, a total staff of 90 employees.

During my tenure as Senior Clinical Manager and Clinical Manager, I directed the operations of three Managed Care Plan partnerships providing clinical care to more than 3,000 Medicaid and Medicare patients. I directly supervised, ensured productivity, and evaluated the performance of 18 direct reports—registered nurse care managers, social worker care managers, and care coordinators. I also accomplished significant hiring of RN and social work case managers and clinical coordinators during a period of rapid growth. Restructuring workflows to improve quality of care coordination and patient outcomes, was another aspect of my work. I transformed performance standards, linked them to specific learning needs, and created and implemented education programs for clinical staff. I ensured that all services met the standards and requirements of the Department of Health, Office of Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG), Medicaid, and Medicare. Furthermore, I conducted monthly chart audits to confirm compliance with New York State Article 49 regulations.

For Progressive, I led the daily operations of the Clinical Services Department, which provided case management and nursing supervision to more than 2,000 patients in three New York counties. I led 50+ staff (RNs and administrative employees) through 11 direct reports and significantly improved human resource activities—recruitment, onboarding, clinical skills training, industry education, and compliance with standards and procedural expectations. I also oversaw a New York State-approved personal care aide and home health aide multi-site training program.Ensuring Progressive’s compliance with regulations and expectations—Department of Health, local departments of social services, Joint Commission, and contractual obligations, was another part of my responsibility. In this regard, I conducted chart audits to ascertain areas for improvement and I optimized the tracking of nurse supervisor visits. I was tapped to act as a clinical consultant to the organization’s Home Attendant Program, Kind Care, Inc, and in that capacity, I consulted on complex patient care cases that required clinical oversight and incident reviews. I also served as key member and contributor to the Compliance Committee and Performance Improvement/Professional Advisory Committee. As such, I identified areas for quality improvement and reported on performance measures.

As Director of Patient Services & Patient Services Manager, I managed the daily operations and clinical functions of the paraprofessional and skilled services programs for satellite offices in four New York counties. I grew the skilled nursing program census from 25 to 1,250 patients.I provided clinical leadership to 36 through a team of seven direct reports. Reporting into this staff were ~1,700 home care aides. I handled the recruitment, selection, and orientation of professional personnel. I optimized education programs for staff and developed and implemented a competency program for registered nurses new to the profession and home care industry.As a member of the Executive Management Team, provided leadership in strategic planning, performance improvement, and organizational learning. I developed/updated policies, procedures, and standards of care for clinical services in accordance with contractual obligations, regulatory guidelines, and current standards of practice.My contributions also included conducting quarterly audits of clinical and personnel records to monitor compliance with state regulations, Joint Commission standards, and service level agreements.
