I am happy to be part of Human Resources at Health and Human Services Commission as of September 1, 2016! I am still working as a Recruiter/Management Spec focusing on recruiting licensed medical staff for the DADS State Supported Living Center and Regional division. So, this is not a new position, however; our faction of DADS did merge with HHSC. Same "hat" but different letter head! Change is good...

My primary recruitment efforts are focused on the DADS State Supported Living Centers located across the state. They are always in need of licensed medical staff; specifically, nurses (LVN and RN), therapists, dietitians, psychologists, psychiatrists, pharmacists, physicians, dentists, physician assistants and nurse practitioners.

The Random Drug Testing (RDT) program was developed and implemented in October 2009 as a requirement of Senate Bill 643. This program applies to all employees working at state supported living centers (SSLCs). RDT is administered by the RDT administrator, Laura Collins. The RDT program supports a drug-free workforce and safer environment for the SSLC residents.

Supporting and monitoring administrative and technical operations of state operated reimbursement functions and facilities. The position advises DSHS billing staff on implementation needs, problem solving and reporting duties related to third-party and non-third-party reimbursement programs for services provided by DSHS programs and/or facilities. Evaluate and monitor DSHS reimbursement operations during the course of on-site visits at Mental Health (MH) facilities or specific program desk audits. Reviews operation and administrative Automated Data Processing (ADP) systems and/or billing systems and advises in the development of solutions and/or reports. Provides guidance in identifying specifications for detailed ADP and/or billing systems, disseminate related procedures as indicated and monitors the implementation of these enhancements.Preparation and submission of collections reporting and Rider 19 report for assigned MH facilities. Preparation and submission of IMD log to General Ledger for federal draw. Maintains billing system service code,guarantor table, and posting code table. Maintains contractual billing compliance with guarantors. Develops special forms and other documents as assigned. Provides oversight and support for reimbursement programs for the purpose of maximizing revenues. Participates in development of Unit goals and objectives; develop and recommend program guidelines, procedures,policies and/or rules. Ad hoc financial reporting. Monitor guarantor contracts.

Supervise the daily functions and staff of the Origination's Research FFELP and Consolidation Disbursement Team staff to ensure efficient compliance with corporate, federal and departmental policies and procedures. Monitor, update and approve employee time in EZ Labor program, approve and schedule employee requests for leave. Conduct quarterly and annual employee performance reviews. Ensure that disbursements are disbursed as scheduled. Reconcile daily disbursements funded to acknowledgement files. Resolve disbursement funding issues with the appropriate department. Monitor disbursement errors and ensure daily resolution by the DC team. Monitor consolidations disbursements and ensure that accounts are funded prior to actual disbursement. Maintain school profiles and process flows. Process Transmission rejects. Ensure timely processing of all work volume. Oversee the distribution of work for the research team. Identify processing issues/system deficiencies.

As a Senior Account Representative, the main portion of my duties is to assist in staff supervision and training. As part of the management team, I attend meetings regarding policy changes and Account Rep staff needs. I also review system generated reports for loan account problems. I work closely with contracted system vendors to report and alleviate any loan servicing system problems and anomalies. Our department has recently gone through a loan maintenance system conversion in which I was heavily involved. Subsequently, much of my current work is post-conversion clean-up and problem solving. Other duties include monitoring the incoming call lines to ensure there is adequate coverage and minimize customer call wait time. I also make myself available to take supervisor calls transferred from the Account Rep staff or assist the staff with any questions or problems they may have regarding account servicing.
