In my current role, I help with the day to day running of the transfer station and bio-treatment plant. I work closely with the sales team and site manager and provide technical assistance to them and many customers. I price and route a majority of the waste coming in to site to make sure that margins are met and a pre-determined disposal or treatment route is in place for all waste streams. I also provide technical information to other members of staff, helping them complete consignment notes with waste classification etc once a load has been booked into site, to help them to raise the paperwork. I actively search for new outlets for waste streams to meet company and customer needs, pursuing recovery or recycling routes where possible.I help to manage stock liability on site, making sure we keep within the limits of our permit and so that waste is not held too long on site. I deal with the majority of out going loads, from booking in at disposal site to raising consignment notes and booking transport. This requires me to have a good working relationship with staff from my own and other companies, to make sure the process is smooth. I also deal with pre-acceptance and acceptance of loads on to site, both packaged and bulk, checking that the waste streams are as described, and raising NCRs where necessary in order to highlight any problems, be it operationally or financially.I oversee the running of the site when our site manager is on leave and carry out their role and duties as well as my own.WAMITAB - Certificate of technical competence -Level 4 Managing Hazardous waste treatment-Level 4 Managing hazardous waste transfer.

I deal daily with incoming loads, carrying out acceptance procedures and analysis on the waste and also off loading the vehicles too. It is my job to check the loads thoroughly to make sure that the waste is what it is supposed to be and to check that it has been consigned correctly and to check for any discrepancies. I also arrange out going loads from the transfer station, get the loads ready, raising paper work and loading vehicles.I also carry out some mobile chemist work, going on customer sites sampling labelling and packing waste so that it is safe and fit for transport. In this part of my role it is vital that I can build a good rapport with the customer and I believe I do this via my professionalism, friendly personality and attention to detail. I do regular stock checks on site, making sure that stock liability is correct and that waste moves quickly and no out of date stock is held on site. I maintain the transfer station stock sheet, adding all the information from incoming waste to it and taking it off once stock has left site so we can keep track of movement.

I carried out the calibration of all the machines including the Atomic absorption machine and pH meter. I was also in charge of analysis and acceptance of all incoming waste which involved, pH, strength determined via titration, metal check using the AA machine, COD testing, and acid/base neutralisation and I used mass balance, photometer and a seta flash detector and a daily basis. I was also responsible for carrying out mock treats, compatibility testing and bulking. As well as analysis of incoming waste, I was responsible for the analysis of sales samples.It was my job to monitor effluent discharge and the site interceptor to ensure the site was complying with EA regulations. I worked in accordance with ISO9001, 14001 and 18001.
