My “teaching” career has taken many turns. I began right out of college teaching little preschoolers. I had just procured a BA in psychology and my area of interest had been child development. I progressed to homeschooling my daughter in the summers to supplement her education, then homeschooled my son full time. When we decided to choice him into Academy School District 20, I started as a substitute teacher in the district, having substituted in Falcon School District 49 already. Along the way, I had started an MDiv degree and taught an HS research writing course to homeschoolers. As an employee of Academy School District 20, I also took advantage of their Summer Institute where I was able to keep current with trends in education, taking courses in 21st Century learning models, project-based learning, research-based learning.
