Working on a collaborative project which places students in a large organisation (Musgrove Park Hospital in this instance) for one year, where they can gain work skills through work placements backed up by relevant teaching, resulting in progressing to paid employment.This is a run by project SEARCH, which was established in Cincinnati, USA supporting young adults with learning disabilities into paid work.As the teacher I am responsible for:Establishing curriculum, planning lessons and assessments.Working with the job coach to support interns in the workplace.Working with managers to ensure interns add value to their teams and develop the skills required to progress to paid work.Liaising between all agencies involved, working towards the best outcomes for the interns.Supporting interns to work towards their employment goals.
