Laura Pascal earned a Bachelor’s degree in History, Political Science, and Classical Antiquities from the University of Miami in Florida, USA and a Master’s of Library Science from Florida State University. History and research are her favorite subjects, but making all that knowledge come to life through theater and role playing is her passion (which is why Colonial Williamsburg is her go-to living museum).Passionate about student-centered education with real world application, she has also sponsored Model UN, Speech and Debate, and Aspen Challenge clubs. She has coached students to compete in local and national Model UN competitions and Speech and Debate (National Speech and Debate Association). Her students have also participated in the Hamilton Education Program Online that helps students see the relevance of the founding era in the US by using primary sources to create a performance piece (e.g., a song, rap, poem, or scene) following the model used by Lin-Manuel Miranda to create the musical Hamilton. In the spirit of real-world application, she also designed a course centered around playing a Stock Market Simulation game so students could learn about personal finance and how to invest. In her free time, Laura really enjoys long hikes, Lindy Hop dancing, banjo playing, zero-waste projects and initiatives, historical re-enactments, and indoor rock climbing.
