-Lead implementation and operation of Global Trade Management System (GTMS). Represent Global Trade Compliance Team in SAP implementation for the company. Support integration between company ERPs and GTMS for automation-Prepare requests for export licensing and commodity classification to Directorate of Defense Trade Controls through the DECCS system and Bureau of Industry and Security through the SNAP-R information system. Prepare and submit foreign import/export licenses as applicable (AU, SE, NL, GB, JP, etc.)-Conduct internal outreach and trainings to US and international ViaSat personnel on US trade regulations and Export Control Reform efforts.-Study and interpret export regulations (EAR, ITAR, Wassenaar Arrangement, International import/export regulations) governing ViaSat’s products, specifically related to telecommunications, electronics, and encryption products.-Research and determine export jurisdiction and classification for ViaSat’s commodities and technologies -Organize appropriate export coordination and routing with both internal and external customers appropriate for project specific requirements

Lead Export Control Reform transition effort of assessing and analyzing the changes to the ITAR (primarily Categories XV and XI) and EAR and the resulting impacts across ViaSat’s products, programs, and technologies by working with 6 technical leads across multiple business areas.

Use extensive knowledge and expertise in the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Office Foreign Asset Control (OFAC), and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF-E) to provide export/import consulting services, compliance training, and subject matter expertise to U.S. and Foreign small and mid-sized businesses. Highlights include:• Prepared and submitted export licenses (DSP-5s, -6s, -61s, -73s, SNAP-R) and agreements (TAAs, MLAs, and WDAs) for companies across a broad spectrum of industries including: missile systems, simulation systems, military communication devices, firearms and ammunition, historic aircraft, telemetry systems, and defense training services• Researched applicability of license Exemptions and Exceptions in the ITAR and EAR including: Temporary Import, Canadian, FMS, Shipments by/for USG, LVS, TMP etc.; provided position statements related to exemption; and created records / filed AES as required.• Researched product/services jurisdictions, including filing Commodity Jurisdiction Requests (CJRs) or Commodity Classification Automated Tracking System (CCATS) and self-classifying commodities on the United States Munitions List (USML) and Commerce Control List (CCL).• Presented at several ITAR related training programs across the United States. Training presentations were given to senior level managers and sales & engineering staff from defense contractors, freight forwarders, and USG employees. This included serving as an assistance instructor for the University of Alabama-Huntsville Continuing Education Course on U.S. Export Controls, and speaking at NAITA and NCMS monthly meetings.
