 Managed the revenue cycle of a 25-bed critical access hospital with provider-based rural health clinics in the areas of patient registration, medical coding, insurance billing, collections, and financial assistance.  Oversaw a billing team of 26; including hiring, training, performance reviews, and disciplinary action.  Analyzed revenue cycle processes and data using MS Excel and Epic Reporting to determine business and physician performance, variances, and opportunities for improvement.  Served as a key resource for monitoring and investigating regulatory and compliance matters/initiatives with respect to the healthcare revenue cycle, patient privacy and security, and billing and coding issues  Assisted in the implementation of an electronic health record (EHR) (CPSI to Epic); was a super-user, trained staff, and developed new workflows. Implemented electronic remit posting working closely with the clearinghouse and EHR system representatives. Brought outsourced patient account follow-up in-house; developed processes and policies, hired and trained staff. Developed, maintained, and reported on the Chargemaster; ensuring data integrity between the Chargemaster and each department’s files.  Coordinated and followed up with providers and other allied health professionals to ensure accuracy and timeliness of information submitted to an outsourced insurance credentialing vendor.
