About Laura Schofield

Laura is a senior Project Manager and Framework Manager in the Energy & Power business unit, helping deliver a range of electricity transmission projects for National Grid.Laura was previously Deputy Portfolio Manager on the Environment Agency's TEAM2100 programme, accountable for delivery of a portfolio of projects to improve the fixed flood defences along the tidal Thames in London. Prior to this, Laura was responsible for design assurance for the protection of tidal flood defences and river structures for the £4.2 billion Tideway project. During the planning phase she was responsible for assessments of existing buildings and infrastructure , including the procurement and management of consultancy contracts worth over £500k including assessments of construction induced ground movement effects on listed and non-listed buildings, flood defences, gas mains, water mains and sewers. Her experience included liaising with a number of third parties to obtain technical approvals.Laura has a good background in civil engineering design, particularly in the water sector.Laura has a keen interest in promoting inclusion and diversity in the engineering and construction industry, and is a trans representative for Jacobs Prism network. She previously chaired the Encompass LGBT+ network at Tideway.

Scoping, procurement and management of ground movement assessment work packages relating to buildings, flood defences, sewers, water mains and gas mains. Coordinated site investigation work including river wall inspections, structural surveys and heritage surveys. Undertook extensive liaison with utility companies, other asset owners, the Environment Agency, English Heritage and local authorities. Negotiated approvals in principle and letters of non-objection from several third parties. Also led asset data searches and the development of a third party asset database for the project.
