About Laura Singleton
I am a PR and communications professional with experience of leading high-profile media relations and communications campaigns across the higher education, arts and cultural sectors.In my current role as the Media and PR Manager at Imperial College Business School, I am responsible for raising the profile of the Business School’s academic research, degree programmes and Executive Education. During my time at Imperial, I have overseen PR campaigns for a wide variety of initiatives, from the launch of Scale Space at Imperial’s White City campus, to the first live lecture delivered by hologram and a student’s swim across the English Channel to raise money for displaced people fleeing from Ukraine. I love learning about new subjects and have welcomed the opportunity to enhance my writing skills by reporting on a wide variety of topics for Imperial’s news site, including sustainability, artificial intelligence, health management and climate change. I enjoy sharing my professional expertise to help other people thrive and develop at work. One of the favourite parts of my role is media training, where I help academics to tell the story of their research to a general audience. After graduating with a degree in History of Art and European Literature, my career has taken me on a long and fascinating journey. After a brief stint as a TV researcher, I made the transition to PR with a couple of roles in B2B and healthcare PR before moving into the museum sector. I could never have guessed that one day I’d end up working in one of the world’s most prestigious science and tech universities! I am passionate about arts and culture, travel, being in nature and making a difference. When I’m not at work, I can be found practising yoga, hiking in the countryside, taking an art class or marvelling at the exhibits in the V&A.
