An expert in the theory, planning and development of respectful and inclusive communities having honed my skills over the course of a career spanning two decades across multiple higher education institutions. I have received recognition and awards for my work in relation to diversity, equity and inclusion, global community outreach, innovation, leadership and student wellbeing. I hold a Master’s in Education, and Bachelor of International Relations (Hons). As Senior Manager, Gender Equity, Respect and Inclusion at Deakin University, I lead University-wide strategies, programs and initiatives to promote respect, gender equity, inclusion, mental health and prevent sexual harm. This includes engaging internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the University fulfils its positive duty, legislative obligations, and leads sector best practice. I’m a passionate advocate for collaboration and knowledge sharing amongst the industry within Australia and on a global scale, and regularly share my thoughts and experiences through journal articles, speaking engagements, and online forums including LinkedIn. I am currently serving on the Editorial Board for the Journal of Australia and New Zealand Student Services Association (JANZSSA) and as the Network Coordinator for the Victorian Tertiary Primary Prevention Network. Past leadership roles within higher education include President of the Australian and New Zealand Student Accommodation Association (APSAA), Chair Professional Development (APSAA), and Faculty for the Global Housing Training Institute. Away from work, I’m passionate about fitness, photography, travel, and getting out and about in the great outdoors, using every spare moment to plan future adventures!

Key Achievements:University-wide coordination of the National Student Safety Survey (NSSS) resulting in a higher than national average response rate. Development and launch of a new university-wide Respect@Deakin module, working with partners across the University including Deakin Learning Futures and Student Services to create new content, engaging graphics, and extensive promotion to the student and staff body. Coordination and delivery of the eSafety Safer Online: Awareness to Resilience (SOAR) Program, working collaboratively with Universities Australia, the eSafety Commissioner and teams across Deakin to develop and implement an activity plan to raise awareness of online safety and reduce harm for staff and studentsThe delivery of briefings to all executive and senior leaders across the university regarding Deakin’s approach to sexual harm and family violence.
