I'm a Geomorphologist, a Climate Change Researcher, a Project Manager, a University Lecturer, a Cyclist, and the former Vice President of the Guelph Coalition for Active Transportation (GCAT). I've researched and been a consultant for projects involving climate change projections and extreme weather, flooding, hydrologic modelling, wind erosion, and phosphorus deposition in collaboration with international and local agencies, academic and government institutions, fellow researchers, and stakeholders. I primarily use GIS software, climate or meteorological models, and remotely sensed data to develop local, regional, water or airshed scale models. These models provide extreme weather projections, highlight hot spots for wind erosion or dust emission mitigation, map the deposition of airborne phosphorus in Lake Simcoe, or map the migration of sugar maples and project future sap flow timing due to climate change, Along with my research career, I've also been a university lecturer and Geomorphology Subject Matter Expert. In these roles, I've taught people to see the world through a geographer's eyes, not only in a university classroom or during the pandemic online but also on guided tours with the public. I love teaching and revealing the mystery behind things you see daily, like clouds, those boulders along the path, why there are so many hills in Guelph, and so much more.As part of the Resilient Communities Research Collaborative (http://www.resilientresearch.ca/), I am a climate and extreme weather modeller and data analyst. My most recent research projects involved projecting the impacts of climate change on extreme weather events. Utilizing current IPCC GCMs to generate projections at a local scale within Ontario. I've modelled future extreme events for cities for risk assessments and mitigation planning. Generated climate change projections to map the migration north of the Sugar Maple habitat and the changing climate's impact on the sap season. For the past five years, I've been a board member of GCAT (https://gcat.ca/) and am a former Vice President. GCAT advocates for our vision of a future where citizens of Guelph can walk or bike around their city in comfort and safety. We are a volunteer community organization that participates in organizing local events with local business owners and other community groups. I primarily create and support GCAT events and projects, like the Fall Colours Ride and the annual 2 Rivers on 2 Wheels ride with the 2 Rivers Festival (https://www.2riversfestival.org/).
