Joining Regions Bank was a chance to help build the Bank’s reputation in the community and to work closer to home. In addition to continuing to grow and maintain our customer base, my goal at Regions was to build stronger relationships in the community. I achieved this by reaching out directly to local businesses and learning about their unique needs. I also worked to increase our involvement with service to the community through generous donations, hands-on volunteering, and participation in community events. Being a central part in reshaping our reputation in the area made clear to me that customers will invest in long-term relationships with banks that are invested in their communities.

I transitioned into the financial sector after transitioning from a career in the medical field. The opportunity to work for Community First Credit Union was unexpected, and it proved to be an excellent fit for my interests and talents. Because I joined CFCU without a specific set of goals and expectations, I approached my work with an open mind about the diverse roles and responsibilities that I was given. As a result, I learned the fundamentals of many aspects of our financial services. More importantly, I learned how to learn about the financial sector and how to turn that knowledge into better services for CFCU’s members. This experience helped to shape my thinking about how best to train the staff of my current credit union—the University of Iowa Community Credit Union—so that they can provide the highest quality of reliable service for each of our members.
