I administer the Senior Community Service Employment Program for Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands, a sub-grantee of Senior Service America. My job is to co-create a bridge back to work with individuals age 55 and older who have pre-maturely retired or exited the workforce for health, family or other reasons. The first step in this process is often placing individuals into paid midternships with local non-profits or governmental agencies. NPR recently ran a segment on matchmaking which might explain the adrenaline rush I get every time I make a placement that sticks. I hope you’ll listen to it and contact me if you have a role to play in employing the older workforce of Cape Cod and the Islands.

Elected position, providing programmatic coordination and administrative oversight to civil society organization actively addressing the effects of militarization in local communities across the U.S. and advocating for changes in national policy and law. WILPF U.S. is part of an international organization with counterparts in 42 countries and an international secretariat based in Geneva. Internationally, WILPF's Peacewomen (monitoring the Women, Peace and Security agenda at the U.N. Security Council ) and Reaching Critical Will (monitoring disarmament and nuclear issues at the United Nations ) projects provide information critical to both grassroots activists and the diplomatic communities, and facilitating the development of new tools and processes for effective multilateral engagement to create sustainable peace and prevent armed conflict.

Built state-wide coalition in support of legislation promoting respect for and protection of human rights; drafted legislation; educated elected and appointed officials; provided technical support to communities--including Barnstable County and New York City--on integrating international mechanisms into local governance structures.

Lead undergraduates through a series of case studies drawn from contemporary news and fiction. Students developed a strong sense of relationship with women in specific international locations and gave support to many international NGOs.

As an affiliate of Simmons' School of Management's Center for Gender in Organizations, conducted research on women's personal and professional networks within the defense and security sectors, and the impact of same on the emergence of the human security paradigm.

Established a national and international reputation for innovative interdisciplinary research and teaching to support the recruitment of talented graduate students and faculty by consortium member schools. Mentored junior faculty; facilitated collaborative research and curriculum development. Created the Voices of Public Intellectuals public radio series for bringing cutting edge feminist thought to small markets across the country. Worked in partnership with several universities in the People's Republic of China to provide professional development and support for the institutionalization of women's studies at the undergraduate level.

Collected qualitative and quantitative data to evaluate the results of the Wisconsin Student Achievement Guarantee in Education Pilot Program for reducing class size in the primary grades.

Coordinated all phases of production process for Discourse: Journal for Theoretical Studies in Media and Culture, and in the preparation of several books of critical theory published by Indiana University Press.
