Laura A. Sellers of Stafford, Virginia, is a clinically trained social worker with an extensive background serving the community. Appointed by Supervisor Dr. Pamela Yeung, Sellers currently serves the residents of Stafford County as the Garrisonville Representative to Stafford County's Planning Commission and was appointed by Governor Glenn Youngkin and confirmed by the Virginia State Senate to Represent the Fredericksburg District on the Commonwealth Transportation Board. Sellers was elected to represent the Garrisonville District on the Stafford County Board of Supervisors from 2014 to 2017 becoming the youngest person to ever serve in this position in the county's history and among the youngest females ever elected in both the Commonwealth and the country. Her and colleague Supervisor Meg Bohmke would also make history as they would become the first females to ever serve on Stafford County's Board of Supervisors at the same time. During her tenure, she was elected by her colleagues to serve as Vice Chairman of the Board of Supervisors in 2015 and 2016 supporting two different Chairman as the county sought and received a AAA bond rating in 2015, transitioned from the leadership of a long time County Administrator in 2016, and worked to open some of the county's largest Parks and Recreation destinations: the Jeff Rouse Swim and Sports Complex and Fields at Embrey Mill (both in her home district) and the baseball complex at Chichester Park, which Sellers was honored to through out the first pitch at the Little League World Series event in 2016 hosted at the fields. Sellers represented the county on numerous regional boards and commissions including but not limited to the George Washington Regional Commission, the Fredericksburg Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, and the Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission. These boards play a key role in shaping policy and providing long-term planning for regional and state transportation initiatives and played a key role in hosting early discussions on the OPIOID crisis with our Congressional and State delegations. Born at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Sellers spent much of her childhood moving around the country ultimately graduating from North Stafford High School in Stafford, Virginia. She received her undergraduate education from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC and received a Master's of Social Work from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.
