Undergraduate research scientist and lab member studying how brains change in response to selection pressure on behavior, and how brains acquire heritable adaptations for complex, learned behaviors under the direction of Erin Hecht, PhD, Assistant Professor in the Department of Human Evolutionary Biology and Principal Investigator. Areas of focus include neural and behavioral variation and evolution in humans, nonhuman primates, and canines, including the relationship between individual variation in initial brain structure and function, anatomy, and predisposition to acquire new learned skills, particularly in the evolution of neural adaptations to support complex cognitive, behavioral, and affective functions like social learning, tool use, and communication. The lab’s methods include structural and functional neuroimaging, behavior measurements and analyses, and histology.

Undergraduate research scientist studying molecular evolution, systematics, phylogeography, comparative genomics, and behavioral evolution under the direction of the Chair of the Harvard University Department of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology. Research focused on evolutionary biology of avian and other species---combining field, museum, and genomics approaches to understand bases of diversity, evolution, and behavior in the broader context of examining patterns of speciation, biogeography, the evolution of the genome and the process of adaptation. Guiding approaches include population genetics, systematics, and natural history.
