The mission of Our Bright World is to recognize, encourage, honor, and reward outstanding work by teenagers to develop real-world benefits and solutions to critical issues we face across science, engineering and technology, social science, and society. We create shared value and collective impact in three ways: We provide a platform that encourages teenagers’ ideas, invention, and innovation to address and fuel real-world solutions and helps focus them by developing S.M.A.R.T. (specific, measurable, actionable, relevant, and timely) projects with real-world benefits and that can power real solutions. Through an application process, we provide prizes to recognize and celebrate these teenagers’ most outstanding and compelling efforts, including monetary awards, in the form of scholarships that support these students in their higher education. We provide the opportunity for individuals, companies, and other sources to support our mission and contribute through financial philanthropy and offer resources, guidance, and mentorship to award-winning teenagers. Our Bright World is unique in that it focuses on teenagers’ ideas, inventions, and innovations and their application to the broader community. Thus, not only are we providing an incentive and platform for teenagers to become agents of change from a young age, but we also serve to amplify the voices and values of young people as the future of our world. In doing so, we allow young people to recognize the importance of civic engagement and responsibility. We aim to provide inspiration, strategies, and tools for young people to dream, develop, and help drive solutions to some of the most critical issues facing the world today. In addition, our organization provides a philanthropic platform for individuals, companies, and other funding sources to support and encourage the invention and innovation of groundbreaking and community-changing significance.
