I am a corporate law attorney with extensive experience advising public charities, private foundations, religious organizations, associations, community foundations and other 501(c) organizations. Some of my most significant representative matters have included advising major national charities on governance restructuring, mergers, and grantsmaking. I also assisted in restructuring a key New York City social services agency and its related organizations to reduce exposure to liability, protect its endowment, and enable it to provide services and fundraise effectively. I graduated from Northwestern University with a B.A. in Political Science and went on to start a career in finance and not-for-profit administration. I received my J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law in 1994 and soon after joined McLaughlin & Stern. In addition to my professional work, I am a proud member of the Board of Trustees of Syracuse University and Chair Emerita of the Syracuse University College of Visual and Performing Arts. I serve as the director and secretary of the corporation for The Philanthropy Workshop and National Dance Institute. I also serve on the boards of the Green-Wood Historic Fund (Green-Wood Cemetery) and Community Help in Park Slope, among others. I have lectured at Northwestern University, New York University, Syracuse University and the University of Buffalo.
