About Lauren Kleitz
For as long as I can remember, I have loved the classroom and have known that my career path lies in education in some way. Perhaps that is why upon matriculation from my undergraduate institution, I completed two master’s degrees one in Experimental Psychology from the University of Louisville and one in Customer Analytics from Xavier University. Can you see the common thread between those degrees? In both psychological science AND marketing research, we try to explain, describe, predict and even influence human behavior. And how do we do those things? Using statistics! Data collection, transformation, analysis, presentation, and ACTION based on data are my true passions. And across my professional career, I have used those skills to help brands develop and position new products, segment customer basis, and model pricing. I have also used those skills to help institutions of Higher Education improve educational outcomes for their students, measure progress against their strategic plans, and ensure the success of faculty development offerings in my current role as a Senior Learning Analyst on the Strategy and Planning team at Ellucian. In my analytical work, I pride myself on being scrappy, creative, flexible, and collaborative. Ask any one of my collaborators and they will tell you that I am the first to volunteer to dig into a data challenge. If the data is dirty, I'll clean it. If it doesn't exist, I'll build the system to capture it (and train everyone on the right way to use it). As a life-long learner, I am always working to grow my analytical skillset and am willing to learn new technologies and methodologies as needed when they are the right tool for the job.But I mentioned I loved the classroom – and it turns out that there is PLENTY of appetite out there for, well, data literacy and data-related educational offerings (and some departments have a hard time finding people to teach statistics. I will never forget the look of naked relief on not one but TWO of my department chairs' faces when I said statistics was my FAVORITE course to teach). So since 2015, I have been teaching psychology, statistics, research methods, business analytics, data visualization, and more at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. I have also developed and facilitated a number of professional development trainings centered around analytics - including work on the EDUCAUSE Data Literacy Institute and various 'bespoke' statistics training programs.Want to talk survey design, data analysis, pedagogy, or student success?
