These were my field experience credits where I assisted a 5th grade class at the local elementary school and got to host reading and spelling groups weekly; I have also assisted in a Kindergarten classroom briefly this last spring. In the ECEC, I learned of preschool tendencies… Show more These were my field experience credits where I assisted a 5th grade class at the local elementary school and got to host reading and spelling groups weekly; I have also assisted in a Kindergarten classroom briefly this last spring. Finally, I was a paid worker in the Early Childhood Education Center on campus my freshman spring and helped as a volunteer for a class on multiple occasions each year. I learned a lot from each of these experiences. In the ECEC, I learned of preschool tendencies and how positive talk rather than using "no or don't" assists kids in this age group. I also helped by prepping, making, and cleaning up their snack times and got to see the more social/non-school related tendencies of kids and it was always a fun adventure with them. All these experiences in the ECEC, but especially in the elementary school have taught me how to interact with different age groups I teach and how to be a helpful resource kids can go to. Best take away from all of these experiences was my last day in the 5th grade classroom. I was given letters from all the kids in the class (I still have all of them) and each one had great pictures and thank you messages, but the best one was from a student who wrote "I had never gotten 100% on a spelling test before and because you worked with me on my spelling I got my first 100%! thank You!" - a very happy teacher moment Show less
