I am studying to become an elementary school teacher aiming to teach future generations in grades 3-6 after graduation. I currently work as a camp coach and director for Skyhawks Sports Academy in the Summer where I teach kids anywhere from 3 to 14 years old to play the large array of sports we offer in our camps (12 sports and 3 Stem assisted sport options). I also work as a virtual coach for kids across the country under the same company via Zoom. Other than the physical lesson of how to play the sport and the skill components of each one, we teach kids valuable life skills such as: respect, teamwork, leadership, responsibility, and sportsmanship. I plan on continuing my job at Skyhawks during Summer and possibly winter breaks after graduation as it won't conflict with any teaching position I acquire. I started this job to assist in growing my people skills both in interacting with kids of varying ages as well as their parents. I also wanted to gain experience in teaching kids varying material and incorporating what I have learned in my classes so far about "classroom" management, preparing lesson plans, and how to be a positive role model to kids as well as a safe place. Ever since I was a kid my mom as well as complete strangers would call me the "pied piper" of children because they always were around me. I have always had a knack for teaching others and wanting to help those I can in school and otherwise. The idea of becoming a teacher and coach has been my goal since I was in middle school and I plan to apply all that I learn from work and school into my teaching philosophy and future classroom to ensure I am receiving all that I can out of training and so my students get the best education and experience possible too.
