- Prime RF Engineer on major projects, including HSPA footprint expansion, 21.1 mbps roll-out, carrier additions and LTE roll-out. - Knowledge of network technologies includes GSM/EDGE, UMTS/HSPA and LTE. Knowledge of Ericsson radio base station equipment.- Design new cell sites to provide optimal RF coverage and performance using RF propagation software Mentum Planet.- Monitor and optimize radio network performance during new site integration. - Conduct field surveys and site evaluations for potential cell sites.- Coordinate with other wireless carriers (Bell, Telus, Videotron and Eastlink) for co-located installations.- Produce work orders for the configuration and installation of radio base station equipment, RF equipment, transmission lines and antennas.- Estimate costs of in-building systems and special projects.- Create and update antenna and transmission line cabling diagrams for cell sites.- Change frequency plans and retune cell sites to optimize spectrum usage and improve network performance.- Perform Safety Code 6 analyses to ensure that all antenna installations are within the safety limits for human exposure to radiofrequency electromagnetic energy as mandated by Health Canada.- Work with other engineering departments, field technicians and Industry Canada to troubleshoot and resolve interference to the Rogers network.- Work with network implementation, field operations, project management and vendors to identify and resolve complex engineering problems and technical issues in a timely manner.- Train co-op students.
