The Laurita Spina Bifida Project, Inc., is a 501(c)(3), not-for-profit, tax-exempt charitable organization under the Internal Revenue Code. All contributions made to the LSBP will be tax-deductible in accordance with Code section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code. Any and all funds raised will go towards the following programs/initiatives: -Launching a long-term, national, multimedia awareness campaign in the U.S. that portrays individuals with spina bifida in a positive light-Providing health care professionals in all fields who treat patients with spina bifida with updated, impartial information about spina bifida, thus equipping them with the knowledge and resources they need to give families compassionate but objective information, thereby supporting them in the decisions they make for their families-- at all stages of life with spina bifida (from prenatal diagnosis through adulthood). -Provide health care professionals in all fields with the resources required to assist individuals with spina bifida who are aging out of the pediatric health care system, to make a successful and seamless transition to adult-centered health care. -Creating an online platform for individuals with spina bifida, their families, health care providers, and supporters to interact and discuss the issues that matter to them. This online community will aim to address the longtime disenfranchisement and isolation of many within the spina bifida community. -Advocate for the full incorporation of mental health care as part of the comprehensive set of treatments made available to all individuals with spina bifida -Fund and organize humanitarian trips to areas of the world where there is limited access to adequate surgical and therapeutic interventions for people with spina bifida; introduce teams of volunteer medical specialists to these areas of the globe for continued evaluation and care.

I am currently updating my blog on a daily basis in order to promote awareness of Spina Bifida. Each day, I will write to one celebrity or public figure in the hopes of finding a person willing to become the spokesperson for Spina Bifida at a national level.

Reviewing content published on the Web site and providing feedback from both a blogger/writer's perspective, as well as the point-of-view of an individual living with spina bifida. I've worked with Alyson Flynn since before she developed the idea for Faces of Spina Bifida, and have advised her on content creation, promotion, and building an online community. Also, I have contributed articles for the site and promoted it on various social media platforms.

I oversee, manage, and curate as well as create content for Hispanic PR Blog, which is owned and published by Hispanicize. Part of my job involves interviewing leaders in the PR and marketing industries, as well as identifying and highlighting the stories of Latino entrepreneurs.

Published article in El Sentinel, Orlando Sentinel's Spanish weekly, about the disproportionately high incidence of Spina Bifida among Hispanics in contrast with other ethnic groups; wrote news briefs for El Sentinel; shadowed all news-related departments.
