I have years of experience in leading digital transformation initiatives for the utility sector, focusing on TSO/DSO projects aimed at solving complexity of future power and grid systems. Some of key projects include designing future control centres (advanced EMS/ADMS/SCADA application suite), advanced asset management organizations that prioritize asset reliability, condition-based maintenance, and operational excellence, advanced market operations and supporting platforms/management systems, grid datahubs and strategy, etc. The key direction taken in such projects is to maximize standardization, improve interoperability, and reduce vendor dependency by promoting sound data governance and information modelling. Through my team and network, I am abreast with best practices in business/application architecture, data and technology architecture. Navigating the challenges of digital transformation requires high cross-functional people dependency and I have been part of setting the governance to realize the same. I also advocate CIM/CGMES data standards, and have supported several power utilities adapt a sound information strategy and data lifecycle management practice based on such data standards.With an initial career in power market operations, I also specialize in crafting advanced market management systems that facilitate flexibility markets, enhance consumer-centric services, and support the integration of renewable energy sources and distributed energy resources (DERs). I was part of several European innovation projects, wherein I was responsible for delivery of key work packages linked to enhanced market design, DER business models, local markets and energy management. As part of Elia TSO Group, I am also closely associated with Belgium Consumer Centric Market Design implementation, and thus carry deep understanding and design competencies on market access platforms for flexibility. I am also closely associated with digital accelerators in Elia Group focusing on innovations and scale up of emerging technologies such as AI/ML, IIoT, TechLabs, NEST Incubator, etc. In my present role, I lead the Smart Grid Design & Digitalization practice at Elia Grid International, and our team is supporting ongoing transformation for several utilities in Europe and Middle East.
