• Lawrence Samson (MD Tirhani Construction a member of Tirhani Group Holdings). Lawrence served in different capacities such as coordinator, facilitator and concept developer, including all aspects of management of key civic, worker and human rights related projects. Mr Samson’s career is highlighted in the Non- governmental sector of Kwa-Zulu Natal during the 80’s and 90’s. Lawrence received the Old Mutual Community Builder Award for establishing a school for the informal settlement Community of Welbedacht south-west of Durban. He was appointed as Programme/Finance Administrator for the Department of Trade & Industry and managed all programme activities for the Policy Research Unit. Research covered steel, motor industry, tourism, clothing and textile sectors. Lawrence was contracted as a BEE Consultant to accredit BEE service providers for key multi-nationals and para-statals in their efforts to engage “Black owned” companies for contracts. He implemented mentorship programmes to ensure black companies successfully engaged empowerment contracts. As General Manager of Makwenzeke, secured major cleaning contracts at Sasol Synfuels, and restructured the company as a full BEE entity. He also secured lucrative contracts with Vodacom, Ekurhuleni Municipality, SAA Technical and ESKOM. Lawrence served as General Manager: Projects Implementation and Coordination for Stemashan Construction. • Lawrence Samson serves on the following boards:1. Botshabelo : an NGO based in Midrand working with abandoned babies affected by HIV/AIDS and Early Childhood Development projects in Olievenhoutbosch. Lawrence serves on the ECD portfolio.2. Olievenhoutbosch Community Development Forum.3. Dimponyane : an NGO based in Olievenhoutbosch providing crèche and ECD services to the community.
