Spearheading the HSE operations in SP PowerGrid, the biggest business unit in SP, reporting only to the Group’s Head of Branch of Quality Management and Safety while leading a team of eight to implement HSE initiatives in over 33 sections and more than 100 contractors. Carry out risk assessments and HSE audits regularly as well as ensure close monitoring of critical operations before any major works are being carried out. Conceptualised SP PowerGrid’s HSE programme to promote workplace safety initiatives among contractors to achieve a zero accident rate. Key accomplishments Chaired the SP Group Safety and Productivity Summit 2016 organising subcommittee to organise the Safety Champion awards. 86 teams (approximately 1000 participants) participated and 16 teams were rewarded. There were 3 selection rounds and 28 judges involved. The participants comprised of government bodies, contractors and working partners. Led the team at SP PowerGrid to win the bizSafe Partner Award by WSH Council in 2015. The award was awarded in recognition of bizSafe Partners who were committed to building up their WSH capabilities to achieve international standards. Only 7 out of 11 applicants were awarded this honour, with SP PowerGrid being one of them. Had the honour of sharing SP PowerGrid’s best practices in WSH with the public during the bizSafe convention in 2015.Implemented the new WSH (Design for Safety) Regulations 2015 at Singapore Powers. This has helped to reduce the risk of “Falling from Height” significantly. Oversaw the installation of the life line at the building rooftop perimeter to ensure the fall prevention plan was put into place.Played a key role in leading SP PowerGrid to achieve certification in OHSAS 18001 and SS 506 Part 1 in 2014. The entire certification process involved 33 sections, 10 depot offices and all its contractors.

Directed the HSE operations, with the assistance of three senior HSE engineers, to provide HSE expertise to the three largest business units in Keppel Infrastructure. This included the operations of various Power Generator, Incineration and NEWater plants. Carried out regular internal audits and site inspections to ensure strict compliance to ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 management systems and to identify system gaps for the continuous improvements of Keppel’s HSE management systems. Held regular trainings for more than 300 staff and all local operations on “Behaviour Based Management of Safety”. The trainings played a key part in instituting a strong safety culture throughout the organisation, from supervisors to contractors.Key accomplishmentsHelmed a team of investigators to investigate a fatal mishap at the shipyard belonging to Keppel Infrastructure in 2013. Presented the investigation findings and appropriate corrective and preventive actions were recommended to prevent re-occurrence to senior management. Obtained senior management’s buy-in to implement the majority of recommendations into the company’s HSE programme. Guided the internal audit team to attain ISO 9001 and ISO 14000 for Keppel Integrated Engineering Responsible for the running of the Keppel Safety Convention 2012 which was attended by more than 1,000 people and received positive feedback from senior management on the back of it. Oversaw the organisation of the KIE EHS Convention in 2011. Over 300 participants, comprising of staff, contractors and customers attended with the Executive Director of Workplace Safety & Health Council as the guest of honour.

-Guided a team of facilities managers and managed all areas of Corporate Responsible Care which included Quality, Environmental and Safety Management as well as Security Management.-Liaised regularly with regulatory bodies like SDCF, MOM and NEA on critical issues including the expansion of chemical storage for flammable liquids, failures on sewerage wastes in chambers as well as the compliance of new regulations in the formation of Company Response Teams. -Established the company’s risk management system and continuously carried out risk assessments with operations personnel to reduce risks at the source. Implemented additional control measures if safety lapses were found during the reviews. Key accomplishments-Attained the qualification of a fire safety manager (endorsed by SCDF) and conducted training for the company’s Emergency Response Team after which passed the SCDF audit to comply with the Fire Safety (Petroleum and Flammable Materials) Regulations. -Qualified as a license holder by NEA to handle and manage hazardous substance.

-Overall responsible to manage a team of QA engineers and Inspectors to provide Quality Management Support to Optical Disk division -Led the selection of Suppliers Management Program to ensure the parts supplied were of high quality and Ship to Stock Program at the In-Coming Quality Inspection-Developed in-process and outgoing quality system to ensure products built were of high quality in large volume.-As Management Representative led the quality and environment management which complied to international standards such as ISO 9001 and ISO 14000.-Conducted investigation on products returned, identified product quality weaknesses and determined the root causes to make the products’ design more robust.-Handled customer complaints and ascertained their feedback to enable continuous improvement in the product manufacturedKey accomplishments-Implemented “Ship to Stock” program for preferred suppliers and achieved reduced incoming inspection of materials by 30% without sacrificing the materials’ quality -Our major customer SONY had found the quality management to be in compliance with their Green Partnership Program and attained the status of their Preferred Supplier.-Personally trained internal auditors and achieved system compliance in quality and environment management certified by external certification body.

-Responsible for in-coming, in-process and outgoing quality system to ensure components and products such as wire bond handler built were of high quality in low volume and many model types.-As Management Representative, I led the quality and environment management which complied to international standards such as ISO 9001 and ISO 14000.-Conducted investigation on products returned, identified product quality weaknesses and determined the root causes to make the products’ design more robust.-Handled customer complaints and ascertained their feedback to enable continuous improvement in the product manufactured.-Drove supplier quality and work towards reducing cost and productivity improvement Key accomplishments-Trained in California to build and customized to Customer product requirements when there were high failure rate in the testing. Subsequently successfully trained the supplier to build sub-assemblies quality requirement and resulted in more than 95% product acceptance.-Personally trained internal auditors and achieved system compliance in quality and environment management certified by external certification body.

-Oversaw the QA department and responsible for supplier management, incoming, in-process and outgoing quality system to ensure surface mounts resistors built were of high quality in large volume.-As Management Representative, I reported product quality performance and improvement plan to our major customers like Seagate, Compaq and IBM.-Set-up led the quality and environment management which complied to international standards such as ISO 9001 and ISO 14000.-Conducted investigation on products returned, identified product quality weaknesses and determined the root causes to make the products’ design more robust.-Handled customer complaints and ascertained their feedback to enable continuous improvement in the product manufacturedKey accomplishments-Implemented “Ship to Stock” program for preferred suppliers and achieved reduction of incoming inspection of materials by 20% without sacrificing the materials’ quality.-Improved the product quality to 99% by increasing the process yield and tighten the process variation.
