Since my younger days, I am engrossed with jigsaw puzzles and Lego. They eventually form the building blocks for my career. It is of no surprise that I got enrolled into Mechanical Engineering in my local university with a specialisation in Product Design. I enjoyed my 4 years in the NTU where I made some close friends and reaffirmed my passion for product design. I love the idea of creation for the betterment of life. I started my career as a product design engineer with Seagate Technologies in Singapore. During my 9 years with them, I saw my career steadily progressed from a successful designer to a Team Lead within 5 years. I was the youngest Team Lead to be given the role at that time. In my tenure, I was also responsible for designing the world's smallest magnetic head stack design for 0.8 inch hard disk drive. I was also awarded 2 USA parents for mechanical design and innovation. My career continued with the venture to consumer electronics when I joined the innovative Dyson. I excelled as an engineering team leader as part of a growing team in Singapore. I embraced the responsibility of a people manager with great purpose and pleasure. It also allows me to share my experiences with junior engineers with mentorship. As my reputation preceded me, I was soon managing a team of more than 10 engineers. As people management is only part of the job, I remained engaged in product design through various projects I was involved in. I was responsible for design reviews and approval for iconic products like the Dyson Airblade and Supersonic hair dryer. The first Dyson hair dryer, the Supersonic, was the first of it's kind for the company. I am proud to be one of the main architects for the product. My passion for design and innovation eventually leads me to yet another unfamiliar territory, Automotive. My versatility and ability to adapt brought me to yet another opportunity to further my lifelong learning and contribution to the engineering community. This time, it is with Continental Automotive. With an Innovation role, I hope to be able to get involved in the process of eliminating global pollution and create sustainable transportation for all.
