This summer project, supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, is a pilot for athree-year historical study currently in the planning stages. The summer project will probe the impact ofstructural racism in New Jersey, with a focus on strengthening public infrastructures relating to health and well-being. My role: During my summer research I focused on the analysis of population health datasets to trace and trace the impact of structural policies on historical health outcomes in African Americans,Latinx, and Indigenous Communities. I conducted a combination of library archival research and vital statistics research, extracting both qualitative and quantitative data from various databases, including but not limited to the New Jersey Health Statistics from 1877 to 2000; New Jersey State Health Assessment Database; and U.S. Small-Area Life Expectancy Estimates & Project. Duties & Skills: ● Identify current environmental science research at universities relating to environmental justiceissues in the state, and determine the historical questions that would be useful in this research.● Analyze the state’s historic preservation organizations and their agendas.● Focus on the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Archives.● Mine historical public health datasets, extracting and categorizing epidemiological data onmorbidity and mortality trends for racially minoritized groups in NJ over time;● Use GIS to create maps of socioeconomic and population health outcomes for variousmunicipalities and counties in NJ.

Working as a Starbucks barista involves completing tasks related to customer service, beverage preparation, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment. Starbucks is a global company reaching many countries with coffee. As a Barista at Starbucks, my role is to create a welcoming and efficient coffee experience for customers. I prepare an assortment of drinks, from espresso-based beverages to seasonal favorites, to provide precision and attention to detail. Part of my day involves interacting with customers, taking their orders, customizing drinks, and providing great service. I also work closely with my team to keep the store clean and well-stocked specifically for rush hours. Duties and skills-● Customer Interaction: Greet customers warmly, take their orders, and offer recommendations tailored to their preferences.● Beverage Preparation: Craft a variety of hot and cold drinks, such as lattes, cappuccinos, and frappuccinos, adhering to Starbucks' recipes and quality standards.● Store Maintenance: Keep the store clean and organized by sanitizing equipment, wiping down surfaces, and restocking supplies as needed.● Cash Handling: Accurately processes customer payments, handles cash, and operates the register efficiently.● Team Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues to ensure smooth operations, especially during peak hours.

I am currently a full time student attending Rutgers New Brunswick as a Public health major.
