Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles is a nonprofit law firm that protects and advances the rights of the most underserved – leveling the playing field and ensuring that everyone can have access to the justice system through direct representation, systematic change, and community education.As a Government Benefits Intake Paralegal, I directly advocate for 300+ clients facing homelessness, domestic violence, and/or poverty through providing bilingual advice and counsel, limited scope services, and extensive services regarding benefit cases that range from eligibility to fraud. I analyze and conduct legal research on over 11 LA County benefit policies to form clear arguments when advocating on behalf of clients to the Department of Public Social Services.Collectively, these skills and experiences allow me to identify issues within the Department of Social Services to present to the CA Department of Social Services Civil Rights Unit to ensure that the DPSS is providing services and benefits in a way that is nondiscriminatory.

Centro Legal de la Raza focuses on the needs of the most vulnerable communities and advances the rights of low-income Black, Latinx, immigrant communities. As a Legal Intern, I conducted phone calls in Spanish to assist in distributing over $2 million to Oakland’s undocumented community who were financially impacted by COVID-19. I produced weekly status reports on the applicants' status on receiving their stipends and connecting undocumented workers who reside in Oakland to Centro Legal's relief fund. Additionally, I drafted record requests for clients in wage claim cases and researched legal protections for workers who faced repercussions for advocating for the Black Lives Matter movement.

I supported daily facility operations by providing exceptional front desk customer service, administrative assistance, event support and helping to ensure the safety and security of the facility and patronsI guided guests such as parents, teams, and children to the correct athletic facility for scheduled eventsand managed sports equipment through inventory work and laundry.

F&M's Environmental Migration lab involved working with local communities to digitally map the narratives of migrants who relocated due to the impact of climate change. I interviewed and transcribed English and Spanish narratives of refugee residents of Lancaster, PA, and Colca Valley, Peru to document climate migration patterns. During my time in Yanque, Peru I taught English to local children and adults in Yanque, Peru after conducting interviews. Using the data collected, I digitally mapped narratives of migration using ArcGIS to visually construct the impacts of climate change on human activity.

I constructed an immigrant database of Lancaster’s Seventh Ward based on the 1920 U.S. census and contemporary fire insurance maps of the city resulting in a geospatial model that became the basis of an F&M freshman seminar, the Digital City. I designed a two-day workshop with Afghani refugee women who had been displaced to Iran as children and recently had migrated to Athens, Greece at the Melissa Network NGO. I used remote sensing analysis and GIS to map camp installations built by the Greek government during the peak of its refugee crisis.

As a campus coordinator, I mentored first-generation students from Los Angeles at Franklin & Marshall College by organizing college transition, academic success workshops, and bonding events.I fostered relationships between high school seniors from the Los Angeles Unified School District in College Match and F&M College Match Students to create support systems.

As a research intern, I created and updated Franklin & Marshall College's lab equipment inventories for insurance purposes. I used the collected data to assist with the campus's research grant accountability and asset management purposes.

I served as the Art History professor’s teaching assistant to teach, tutor, and advise first-year students in the Digital City, an Arc-GIS, and a writing-based first-year course.

As the Event Director, I planned biweekly workshops on topics ranging from college transition and success, financial management and academic achievement to mental health to support overall student success I organized team building and bonding activities using a small budget to foster a close community among 70+ first-generation students.I initiated the club's Social Media to showcase events and holistic tips to support students' success while increasing engagement among members.

The mission of SCS Noonan Scholars is to help high-achieving low-income underrepresented students get into and graduate from top colleges equipped to achieve their full career potential.As an SCS Noonan Scholar '15, I returned to serve as the scholarship program’s liaison to advise and guide the F&M SCS Noonan Scholars cohort of 8 first-generation students from low-income communities in Los Angeles. I reported to SCS with student updates by checking in with students bi-weekly to foster a peer support group and identified resources for students to support their personal and academic success.

I served as a team leader to SCA to advise and support a group of 8 SCA scholars monthly from 8 different colleges in the United States through scheduled video chats and phone calls.

In a high-volume, fast-paced law firm, I managed competing priorities including, but not limited to, answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, executing data entry in litigation review database, and digitalizing client folders for the entire firm’s clients.I assisted criminal attorneys by summarizing police reports related to the firm’s criminal cases and identified collaborations between zoning/real estate associations and attorneys. I conducted research on new development projects in Los Angeles 2015-2017 to showcase the complexity of entitlements per firm.
