• This project involved monitoring Australian Humpback (Sousa sahulensis) and Snubfin (Orcaella heinsonhi) Dolphins in Townsville. •The multi-year study aims to understand the impact of industrial activities by the Port of Townsville on the dolphins. • Involved both boat and land surveys, and behavioural and environmental data were collected using CyberTracker.•Utilised a variety of equipment, including an anemometer and Horiba Multiparameter to collect environmental data.

•This role required me to be personable and to offer excellent customer service. •Being a supervisor also meant that I had the responsibility of running the restaurant independently and managing a team. •I was required to handle and store large sums of money, and produce a flash report, which helped developed my numerical and computer skills.

•Being a host involved engaging with members of the public in order to increase awareness and understanding of the oceans, thus promoting conservation. •Aquariums attract people of all kinds of backgrounds and abilities, which helped me to communicate effectively with different groups of people.
