Below is a brief overview of my responsibilities and skills gained during my Ph.D.:- Project management from initial hypothesis of the thesis, through to experimental completion. Proficient with designing each stage of the project, calculating potential 'bottlenecks' in workflow to manage time more efficiently, troubleshooting should issues arise and report writing using a range of Microsoft Office packages and open-source software.- Advanced understanding of light, fluorescent and electron microscopy systems (capturing both still images and ultra high-speed video) coupled with a suite of advanced image and data analysis skills depending on the requirements of the experiment.- Creation and implementation of experimental protocols for both my research and those in the laboratory group. Also experienced in creating COSSH and risk assessment forms due to the harmful nature of the chemicals and aseptic procedures used in the Category II laboratory.- Ability to analyse and interpret complex data and convey findings and concepts (orally, written and with or without the aid of digital media) to a broad audience. I have experience in teaching scientific concepts to school-aged children and members of the public in a fun and friendly manner.- During my Ph.D. I attended multiple international conferences where I would present my research to large auditoriums of the academic community.- Employed as a teaching assistant for numerous courses within the School of Biology. My work ranged from supervision of large class practical’s to one-on-one support for MSc. students. Here I honed my skills in explaining sometimes complex concepts in an easy to understand manner.
