I’ve had a passion for health education ever since I was in high school and was concocting ways to motivate my peers to quit smoking, and slab on sunscreen. 10 years later, I’m still the same highly motivated (and now qualified!) Health Educator adept at developing and implementing comprehensive health education programs and initiatives. During my time in the Peace Corps, I conducted a Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision intervention where young males were targeted through youth dialogues and community mobilization events. Out of the 222 who signed up for the procedure, 65% are now medically circumcised, reducing their risk of HIV by approximately 60%.My experiences have taught me that my professional value boils down to the following:- My CHES Certification demonstrates my commitment to promoting wellness and attaining a deeper knowledge related to the field of health education.-I am not afraid of growth. Whether it involves professional development, or navigating and contributing to an ever-changing work environment, I am constantly looking for ways to move forward. -I thrive on collaboration, viewing problems from all angles, and blue-sky thinking. -I am extremely comfortable talking about sensitive health topics such as HIV/AIDS and reproductive health. If I had a banana for every condom demonstration I’ve performed, well then, I’d have a lot of bananas. -I possess the “WOO” strength: Winning Others Over. I thrive on being around others and helping them with problems they have. I am always eager to make new connections.
