I am an Integrated Engineering student at UBC, specializing in Mechanical and Materials Engineering. Proudly from South Africa, I’m passionate about engineering innovation for a sustainable future. Beyond coursework at UBC, I’ve been actively involved in the Integrated Engineering Student Council, where I served as the 2nd Year Representative and then VP Student Life. These roles sharpened my skills in people management, collaboration, and communication.My technical experience includes a second-year project where I contributed to the development of an algae bioreactor for carbon sequestration. In my third year, I worked on a project involving the recognition of individual harbour seals using a machine learning algorithm, and led the application of photogrammetric techniques for measuring them from drone footage. Currently, I’m on a 12-month co-op as a Risk Analyst at TI Corp, working on the Broadway Subway Project and the Fraser River Tunnel Project. I have recently enjoyed engaging with transportation infrastructure on a technical level, but I also thrive in the dynamic world of project controls/management. My Integrated Engineering degree gives me a holistic understanding of systems, and I’m excited about the opportunities that lie ahead in the field of engineering.
