At the start of the Covid-19 pandemic I returned to Tesco to help ‘feed the nation.’ I assisted some of the most vulnerable in the community with the shopping experience and helped implement the new coronavirus policies including social distancing, limited customer numbers and enhanced cleaning procedures. It was extremely rewarding to assist the community in such an uncertain period.

I was the first point of contact for visitors as they entered the park, answering queries, giving directions and taking payment. The nature of this role was face-to-face sales, selling National Trust membership to visitors. I undertook full sales training and also earned 'Membership Star of the Week' for the colleague who sold the most memberships. This made me a more resilient worker as I had to work alone in the outdoors for long periods of time, and also faced a lot of rejection from the public. In addition, the role improved my teamwork and communication as my team had to work together to meet the sales targets and we shared our personaI techniques and success stories. My time at Clumber Park gave me experience in meeting tight targets and the pressures that come with sales based roles.

Role included stacking shelves and product rotation, counting waste and reductions, and working on tills during period times. Working in retail over the Christmas period gave me invaluable experience in working in a busy environment and having to adapt my work to the given period and situation. I also dealt with multiple complaints in this role so had to use my initiative to compromise the best result for both the customer and the company.

Main duties included food preparation and maintaining excellent cleanliness and hygiene standards. Customer service was integral; providing the best individual experience for every customer, and meeting customer's specific needs. This role gave me experience in working face to face with the public and working in a fast paced and pressurised environment.
