During my time at Clay Shaw Thomas Limited I have progressed from an Audit Trainee to an Audit and Accounts Consultant – working as a part of a team and in a lead role. I have gained experience working on a range of clients varying from sole traders to medium sized groups with turnover in excess of £50m and become highly proficient in the use of Sage Line 50. Over the past 9 years I have undertaken a variety of roles with the following responsibilities:Auditing and Non-Auditing Financial Statements• Liaised with clients during financial audits and controlled the audit in relation to timescales and risk management procedures• Worked as a part of a team but also taken a lead role in managing team assignments and delegating work audit team members. I have ensured junior members understood their responsibilities and deadlines. I provided training/coaching when required.• Developed a full awareness of the commercial implications of deadlines, recoverability and client services• Undertook an active part in the audit planning discussions to identify audit risks and appropriate audit strategy• Responsible for the planning, budgeting and control of non-audited financial statements • Preparing and reviewing client working papers and the drafts of the financial statements. I have experience of using Sage Accounts Production Advanced software and excel to produce a final set of financial statements for submission to companies house• Reviewed financial statements to ensure all disclosures included and prepared year end journals for clients

Management Accounts for a variety of clients on Monthly/Quarterly basis. Took personal responsible for the planning, organisation and completion of management accounts assignments to proactively meet agreed objectives and timescales. I have established strong relationships with clients, resolved issues as they arise and have become their first point of contact within the firm. Key responsibilities included:• Preparing bank and petty cash reconciliations (manually and on sage line 50)• Calculating and preparing VAT returns (manually and on sage line 50)• Maintaining fixed asset registers and calculating monthly depreciation charges• Responsible for undertaking Sales Ledger and Purchase Ledger Credit Control, posting invoices, payments and receipts. Ensured Reviewing aged listings for long term balances and discussed with client. • Calculating hire purchase and long term loan interest and posted charges• Calculating prepayments and accruals.• Producing management accounts incorporating a profit and loss and balance sheet on sage line 50• Reviewing abnormalities and discussing Gross Profit Percentages with clients• Responsible for client telephone queries in respect of sage line 50• Experience of Sage PayrollDuring my time at Clay Shaw Thomas, I have also gained some experience on the preparation of Charity and Trust financial statements. I continued my professional development (CPD) and attended regular training courses alongside self study to develop both technical and personal skills.
