2nd Year Placement with the Fostering Team in Dublin South Central

As part of my first year placement in my Professional Masters in Social Work, I worked alongside the social work team in Sunbeam House. Despite the Pandemic, I still managed to gain significant skills working face to face with service user, while incorporating their will and preference throughout my work with them. Additionally, I was given the opportunity to contribute to the development of a bruising protocol to be used throughout the organisation.

My role as a future you mentor required me to visit DEIS schools and particularly 5th year students who were interested in attending UCD. Beginning with the students as 5th years, I covered various topics including barriers to higher education as well as their strengths and weaknesses in terms of school and facing the leaving certificate. Praising and paying attention to students for their encourgement and engagement, come 6th year UCD Access and Lifelong Learning holds a ceremony on their honour, where all their hard work and Committment is acknowledged.
