Early qualifications in theatre studies led to a 15-year career as a circus performer, trainer and rigger, which also involved event, organisation and people management. A Diploma in graphic design eventually provided a natural progression into broader artistic challenges and work opportunities. In the not-for-profit sector I was able to build on my history of creative expression and apply my organisational skills in leading and managing the communications team. I was recruited to the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide in 2021 where I am currently Acting Assistant Director of Communications and Community Engagement until the Commission hands down its final report in September 2024. My creative competencies, coupled with my extensive experience of people and project management, have delivered well targeted, accessible and engaging communications products and campaigns. The Commission’s internal newsletter has been recognised and appreciated for its engaging and relevant content. It is also one example of my capacity to bring people together, creating strong team culture and identity through my creativity and communications.
