About Leanne Morrison
I have a number of passions in my working/volunteer life. I guess in some ways I'm a bit of an all-rounder. I'm a friendly and outgoing professional who loves nothing better than to leave a client/customer with a sense of satisfaction.One of my passions is Emergency Management. I am a self-professed 'natural disaster junkie' which is probably why I majored in Geography at University. I joined the Tasmanian State Emergency Service as a volunteer in 2019 and am currently Deputy Unit Manager of the Incident Management Unit (North). I recently qualified as an AIIMS Planning Officer and am constantly updating my skills by studying EdX courses (so far via Edinburgh and Harvard Universities) in topics such as meteorology, climate and flood and fire behaviour. My current course of study is GIS. Part of my volunteer role is Unit Training Officer.My other passions are administration and research. My current is split between teaching at Newstead College (Yr 11/12) / Launceston College in Launceston (Tas), and my new role as Project Officer for the "Driving for Jobs" programme. I enjoy working with young people to assist them in reaching their full potential, and over my extensive teaching career I have certainly had the satisfaction of seeing many of them achieve success in their own ways. I was an early adopter of technology and have successfully run three small businesses - my late husband's commercial photography business, as well as my own Airbnb and website building businesses. I love administration and would love to move more into this area in the future. As a teacher I also teach Business Studies and Business Computing to Year 11 and 12 students. I am proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite and also enjoy working with Photoshop website/ecommerce platforms Wordpress and Shopify. I have worked in State Government entities my whole career and enjoy navigating and learning new complex administration software programmes.
