Director of the North Stradbroke Island Project. This project entailed implementation of the current Indigenous Land Use Agreement, resolution of long and short term land planning issues including the creation of appropriate land planning schemes, land tenure conversion and addressing the term and environmental obligations of the Enterprise Mine. As Acting Director of In-house Legal I was responsible for providing legal services to six departments including Departments of Energy and Water Supply, Department of Natural Resources and Mines, Department of Environment and Heritage Protection and Department of National Parks, Recreation, Sport and Racing. As the head of Legal Services (Acting Director) comprising nearly 40 staff in addition to managing a significant budget allocation I was responsible for providing advice in relation to planning and environment, significant and usual course of business contracts, litigation management (judicial review and commercial law) and mining and petroleum resources. As Principal Lawyer and Team Leader of the Legislation and Special Projects Team I was responsible for providing advice in relation to significant litigation (including native title, land title, planning and environment and commercial disputes) and advice on special projects including the implementation of new legislation relating to major policy initiatives.From 1999 to 2003 I worked for the Department of Justice and Attorney General firstly assisting in setting up the registry, as Case Officer and Research Officer for the Land and Resources Tribunal, mediator and then at Crown Law in a junior position.
