I began my nursing career in 2008 and have gained many skills and over 15 years of experience. I show meticulous attention to detail in the monitoring and treatment of patients. I display a positive attitude to work, ensuring that I develop and maintain effective relationships with patients, families, colleagues, and members of the MDT. I am immensely proud having been nominated by a parent for my outstanding care given to their child throughout a difficult stay in hospital. I have multiple nominations from my peers and positive feedback from patients and families I consistently strive to deliver the highest standards of care, I possess good interpersonal skills and leadership skills. Particulary with managing shifts, managing the flow of the ward, PICU transfers, being an infection control link worker, acting as a Mentor and Assessor for students and Trainee Nurse Associates. I act as a positive role model. An example of this when faced with COVID-19 constraints I volunteered to work in one of the Acute Intensive Care Areas looking after COVID positive patients. I continue to act as a positive role model as I am up to date with all my scopes of professional practice BWCH trust and Specific. By being so dedicated to developing my own knowledge and skills puts me in a great position to contribute to the development and offering support for junior staff. I currently work closely with nursing students and Trainee Nursing Associates and feel that I effectively facilitate their professional development through mentorship, preceptorship, and supervision.I have good problem-solving skills for example when dealing with staffing issues and skill mix. I believe that I cope well under pressure and stress and thrive on new challenges and opportunities and will be able to demonstrate this in this role. I am approachable to all members of staff, and a good listener, demonstrating this by being supportive in stressful and challenging situations, ensuring that fairness and equality is always considered. I am proactive in addressing concerns of patients / relatives / carers / staff and take reasonable steps to manage or escalate situations in a manner which prevents complaints being made.Successfully completing the Paediatric High Dependency Course, Paediatric Intensive Life Support Course, and having competencies in all aspects of care for example, intravenous therapy, tracheostomy, parental nutrition, blood transfusion, Warfarin Talks to name a few, allows me to recognise the need for immediate medical intervention and expedite care appropriately.
