My teaching experience has been largely based within a prestigious UK private school, and includes experience examining for major UK exam boards. Throughout these years, guiding pupils to achieve excellence has been at the forefront of my teaching. The values of challenge and support have underpinned every aspect of my teaching and leadership.I have a proven track record of outstanding results at GCSE, iGCSE and A-Level English Language and English Literature. Specializing in these studies, my focus extends to developing advanced essay writing structures, nurturing sophisticated argument development, and encouraging students to think critically beyond the prescribed curriculum. I believe in empowering students with not just academic knowledge but also with the analytical and critical thinking skills necessary for success in their academic and professional pursuits.My involvement in sourcing, creating, and assessing entrance exams has been instrumental in shaping my teaching for those working towards private or boarding school education. In utilizing my experiences, all of my students have achieved their aspirations, including Oxford and Cambridge applications. Adding to this, my experiences in the realm of examination as an examiner for major exam boards in the UK provided me with a unique vantage point. Delving into the intricacies of assessment processes allowed me not only to contribute to the refinement of educational standards but also to witness firsthand the diverse talents and potentials of students. Regular participation in examiner training sessions became a cornerstone of my professional growth, ensuring that I stayed abreast of cutting-edge methodologies and best practices in assessment, thereby enriching my pedagogical toolkit.In 2023, with the adoption of my son, I embarked on creating The Wright Tuition- my online tuition business. I was fortunate enough to expand my client base across the UK and globally and have expanded this over time to support as many students as possible. All of my teaching takes place virtually, using various different platforms and shared documents that allow me to give support and feedback in real time.I am particularly experienced in guiding pupils to achieve level 7's and above at KS4 English Language and English Literature level. My multiple examiner roles see that I have secure knowledge and understanding of set texts, and my understanding of marking criteria and processes mean I am able to break down the fundamental components of essays to ensure pupils are able to work towards the highest grades.
