From my early days as a Software Engineer, I knew I had found my niche. That moment when you solve a seemingly impossible conundrum for a client or employer - the euphoria, adrenalin and alchemy that follow as the right concept leads to the most elegant methodology and inevitably, successful conclusion of a project where all parties have grown in expertise. The testing, implementation, training and certification – other heady phases where theory and practice build layer upon layer on the product. Ultimately one walks away from a competent, trained team able to manage a sustainable and efficient system. I have had many such experiences in small, large, corporate and start-up companies. All have been productive, rewarding and challenging times. I am proud to have been associated with the products and teams I developed along the way.In later years, in management and directorate positions, where business development, relationship management, negotiations and administration began to overtake end to end Project immersion, I still remind myself daily that the magic starts with a client needing a solution. And if it is the correct solution, the magic can continue for many years. I have seen this at play around the world, and I am never happier than when burning the midnight oil with teams (sometimes in different time zones), as we jointly apply our knowledge and resources, using and adapting technology to a perfect fit with client requirements.
