Now in a new role as Full Time Crew (FTC) Training Manager. This role oversees the design, implementation and recruitment of our full time crew Coxswain/Afloat Mechanics roles. It will be an exciting project and will have a positive impact on the resilience in the regions. I've been part of the RNLI for 17 years as a volunteer and staff member. I've been an RNLI Trainer in the RNLI college for 11 years. Over that period I have spent a year out as a Divisional Assessor Trainer and more recently covering as the Coxswain of The Mumbles Lifeboat for a six month period.My career has built my knowledge in delivering, implementing, and maintaining operational training needs. I enjoy managing people whilst creating a positive relationship, inspiring others to reach their goals. An achievement I’m proud of is being part of the Coastal Shannon Implementation Team, implementing and delivering the training to the crews on their new all weather lifeboat.During my time I've spent time driving improvements of our operations, so they are safe and sustainable for our staff and volunteers. In critical and challenging situations, I have demonstrated my ability to perform effectively, remaining calm, objective and decisive. I have experience working within a team whilst also capable of using my own initiative. I am an organised and motivated individual with a demonstrated willingness to learn and develop new skills.As a full-time Coxswain, I was responsible for the efficient and safe running of the Lifeboat station. Primarily ensuring the SAR unit is ready to launch at any given moment. I played a pivotal role in driving performance on station. I ensured I was leading by example and promoting collaborative and supportive behaviours in my team. I upheld exemplary standards as Coxswain and implement a ‘Don’t walk by’ attitude to the safety culture on station. I am consistent at driving behavioural change across the station and making an open and honest environment. As a RNLI trainer I work with volunteer crews and other external professional agencies in all aspects of practical and theoretical search and rescue procedures, including bridge team management.I developed resources for operational and training frameworks, working closely with key stakeholders across the RNLI and externally, all aiding to establish a sustainable lifesaving service. Before joining the RNLI as staff I worked as a fisherman and marine engineer out of Burry Port, South Wales.I am a keen car builder and I'm currently building a MK2 Escort for rallying!
