This role was referred to as a “plant” role where I was placed within the Rio Tinto businesses in the Hunter Valley of NSW. The main task apart from general issue resolution with our lubricant supply was to manage the Value in Use (ViU) program as part of the supply agreement. This involved direct engagement with site hydrocarbon executives with whom I project managed joint initiatives to add value to the clients business.

The Direct Sales Analyst role now referred to as the B2B Analyst role is a true analyst role which requires future or forecasting analysis not simply “point in time” views of the business. Another main function is to calculate, produce and distribute all types of B2B pricing (monthly, weekly, special contract pricing etc.). I thoroughly enjoyed this role and was able to get a wide view of the business and put my excel training to good use when improving/building models for the sales channels.

This role is highly technical and involves in depth analysis of the Retail and Reseller sectors in order to competently set board pricing and consequently manage NAM and rebate. Managing customer and stakeholder interaction is also a large and important aspect of everyday pricing.
